New Layout Inspiration

Just in case you thought I had totally abandoned scrapping for cardmaking – I haven’t!!!!  Here are a couple of layouts I did earlier this summer:

This one  of my daughter Em uses the Cherry Hill Sundae Kit from WeScrap(and some odds and ends!) :

Back to School Layout

Well the first full day of school was today and I miss my gang already!  They were at school for just 2 hours yesterday.  I love the relaxed pace of the summer, but my guys especially thrive on structure so the school year organization is a good thing overall!

I did a layout today for Back to School – entitled 8, 5, 4, 2 – I can’t believe they are big enough to be in these grades!  Supplies are:  paper from Creative Imaginations, embellies are mostly Junkitz, tags are 7 Gypsies and MAMBI, and a lot of little bits and peices of stuff I had lying around.  The stamp is a cheapie from Michaels – but I loved the apples!  Happy Day everyone!

A Bug’s Life

BEN plus BUGS equals FUN!  While sitting on the dock yesterday a mayfly decided Ben was a great place to stop for a rest!  I was so glad I had my camera!  You can tell by his expression how much he enjoyed being a bug reststop!!!!

We are having a relaxing and restful time at the cabin, its warm and sunny, without the intense heat of the early part of summer.  We are playing lots of cards – Cribbage, Egyptian Rattlesnakes, Go Fish and Uno are the top picks right now, with the adults playing cutthroat games of  Hearts into the late evening!

I can feel the summer season slipping away – the sun is setting earlier, it is cooler at night and I can already feel myself thinking ahead to the fall.  I am purposefully trying to stay in the summer mode – we still have two weeks before school begins and I want to make the most of it.  We are so lucky to be able to have such a long period of concentrated time as a family and I want to savour it!  I think I will take a lesson from Hannah on this one!

Back in the land of blogging!

After almost 3 weeks of forest fires, hot sun, wasp attacks, and some wonderful visits with family and friends, we are back at the cabin ( hopefully evacuation free) for one last week to recover from the vacay!  It has been crazy, but we have had a great time and are now looking forward to just chilling a bit by the lake and taking life easy before heading back home at the end of next week!

Despite the evacuations and smoke, we had a great time in the Okanagan and meet some great new friends at Naramata Centre.  I spent a week singing with Louise Rose, a jazz singer and pianist from Victoria (check her out right here – she rocks!!) and meeting some fabulous new friends from Bowen Island. 

The kids also had a great time making new friends and playing in the lake and around the Centre- but I think the daily ice cream cone was the highlight!

 

Now that I have computer access again – I will be back to posting daily and keeping you up to date on what is new and fun in my scrapping world – and in the wonderful world of scrapping on the web!!!

 

Heritage Layouts

Those of you who know me as a scrapper know that I am am constantly whining about how I have no heritage photos to scrap!  Well, I finally pulled apart my mom’s damaged wedding album and am attempting to recreate a special album. 

YIKES!!!  While not my forte, I hae really enjoyed the photos and and the process!  Here is the first layout – of my parents leaving for their honeymoon:

I used the Passport Collection from Making Memories and some of the actual correspondence about the honeymoon reservations!

I also found a phot of myself at about 12 – 15 months old:

This uses more great vintage-y stuff from Making Memories!!!

I love October Afternoon!

Here are a couple of layouts I did for the Inspiration Team at WeScrap!  They are using the Lyrics of the Heart kit – which is a terrific kit featuring some great papers from October Afternoon!  The kit is available online from the Wescrap Store and locally in Victoria at Scrapbook Parade.

I love the shaped paper from Jenni Bowlin, too!

Using up the stash!!!

I have been trying to use up some of my stash – it keeps growing and I am pretty sure it is multiplying while I sleep!  Here are a few of my recent layouts using up some of the stuff I have taking up space in the (s)craproom!  These two layouts are of vacation photos from our giant road trip last summer – my kids said I took too many fish pictures. . .

Softball Superstar

 Here is a layout of my Hannah- the Softball Superstar!!  I love how determined she looks when up to bat – she is definitely her mom’s girl when it comes to ball!  Ben, Em and Josh wrap up tonite, so I should have their layouts later this week!
