A cool photography site. . .

September 14, 2009

I made a really fun discovery the other day and want to share!  You may be familiar with Allison Orthner – a photographer and scrapper who writes for Canadian Scrapbooker and has been published in numerous scrapbook publications.  She also hosts Crop and Cruise events where you can crop while you cruise ( how great would that be?????)

I love her blog and website – check them out here and here – they are full of inspiration for your photography and scrapping!!!

The funny part?  Even though I have been a fan for a while I never realized until this weekend that she was my LOCKER PARTNER all through high school!  We finally caught up with each other on Facebook and put it all together!!!  Small world!  And its been fun to catch up after all these years!!!

So check out her blog and website – they are terrific – and maybe you will even want to join her in Cancun as an instructor or participant at her next event!!

And on another, completely different, tangent – here is one of the layouts for a class I am teaching at Scrapbook Parade this weekend – there is still a spot or two available – 10 pages using the terrific Garden Grove collection from Scenic Route!

 Happy Day everyone!

Back to School Layout

September 9, 2009

Well the first full day of school was today and I miss my gang already!  They were at school for just 2 hours yesterday.  I love the relaxed pace of the summer, but my guys especially thrive on structure so the school year organization is a good thing overall!

I did a layout today for Back to School – entitled 8, 5, 4, 2 – I can’t believe they are big enough to be in these grades!  Supplies are:  paper from Creative Imaginations, embellies are mostly Junkitz, tags are 7 Gypsies and MAMBI, and a lot of little bits and peices of stuff I had lying around.  The stamp is a cheapie from Michaels – but I loved the apples!  Happy Day everyone!

Brayered Cards (yes, I said cards!)

September 2, 2009

! Gasp – it’s true – I have become a cardmaker!!!!  I cannot resist all the wonderful stamps out there just crying out to be used for cards, along with scrapbooking!!!  I have also found cards to be an excellent place to try out some techniques with all the supplies living in my scrap room that I never seem to use!!!

In these two, I have used Versamark ink to stamp the image on glossy paper, heated it with a heat gun to dry, and then brayered across the image using a Kaleidacolour rainbow ink pad.  I love the effect of the white image on a multicoloured background!

The tree card also has brown swirls stamped using Stazon ink on the glossy paper.  For embellishing I just dug throug my old stuff to find some things to go with!  The result was two cards in about 30 min and I am very satisfied with the result!

For more info on brayer techniques check out this video from YouTube!  (My daughter Hannah will be so proud!!)

Give it a try and see what YOU come up with!!!

Happy Day everyone!

“Snorkel” Layouts

August 31, 2009

I love the “snorkel” line from Cosmo Cricket – it is so fun for many of the summer photos I have taken this year – here are a couple new layouts using primarily Cosmo Cricket:

This last one is based on a sketch by Allison Cope – check out her sketch blog HERE!  Watch for more summer layout ideas coming soon!
